In the evenings, the city comes alive with free open air traditional music and dance concerts in the public plazas. You can taste the local homemade exotic fruit sorbets and ice cream, take a ride in a horse-drawn buggy, or simply sit in one of the imposing and historic squares and watch the yucatecos take their evening stroll.

If you prefer, you can eat chinese food, catch a movie in English, and stop by at Burger King for a milkshake. Merida has branches of known North American stores like Costco, Home Depot, Sam’s Club, Wal Mart, JC Penny, Sears, etc.
Telchac is also less than 2 hours away from the spectacular Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza and Uxmal, recognized UNESCO sites. Chichen Itza also has recently been recognized as one of the seven Wonders of the World.

The colonial cities of Izamal and Tizimin, each important Yucatan historic centers with museums, handicrafts and lively markets, are also accesible for a day trip. The area is also dotted with restored 19th century haciendas with first class restaurants where you can taste traditional yucatecan cuisine.
